The YW List

For those of you that missed out in Young Women's....let me explain.

Every year or so in the Young Women lessons there would be the lesson on marriage. I always loved this lesson. Normally, the Young Women leader would pass out sheets of paper and glitter pens at the beginning of the lesson, for us to use later. She would begin the lesson with a picture of a couple at the Temple. We would talk about the importance of a Celestial Marriage-one in which husband and wife make binding covenants with God that, if they prove faithful to those covenants, will enable them to live together as spouses in the hereafter.

A real happily ever after.

Then the leader would move on to talk about how we can prepare to make those covenants. One of the ways we did that was to make a list of characteristics that we admired in people, so as to better know who we would want to date....and eventually marry. This list was two fold. First, it gave us a list of characteristics to look for, and second, that list gave us the characteristics that we would need to develop to prepare for marriage. This is a list that I will continue to always evaluate my dates by...and I'll add new things as I meet amazing men. The top 4 or 5 are the most important, while the rest are not in any particular order.
